Conflict of Interest Policies – The IRS is watching…are you in compliance?
By Donn Eurich, Executive Director

The IRS is paying close attention to the activities of nonprofits and now asks on the 990 federal tax form whether the organization has such a policy. Not having a Conflict of Interest policy in effect could create a red flag to the IRS which triggers an audit! Make sure your board and committee members have reviewed and signed the form. Keep them on file in case you are challenged. Enforce the policy when necessary!!
